A Buzz Bait is surface lure that creates quite a bit of noise and surface disturbance. It looks similar to a spinner bait but has a  much shorter arm that contains usually one blade. The blade kicks up a lot of water and when reeled at the correct speed "buzzes" along the surface.

The hook end may contain a rubber or silicone skirt. A trailer may be added to the hook. Some come with a swim bait instead of skirt. Most buzz baits can be modified to run with either a skirt, a trailer or a buzz frog. Popular today is to run skirtless with a plastic frog that has kicking style legs.
