Frog Fishing

When fish are active, frog fishing can be one of the most fun ways to catch bass. It's exciting to see the explosive strikes that can be had with this type of fishing.

There are basically three types of frogs (see illustrations). One is a standard soft floating frog. They had tapered front noses and are designed to be primarily fished over emergent weeds and pads.

The next is a popping frog which has a cupped nose. These can be fished directly in heavy weeds or lily pads but most fisherman will use these in open water near cover or on the edges of heavy plant growth.

The third type of frog, generally referred to as a buzz frog can be fished right on top of pads or heavy weeds but most commonly fished in open water. This type of frog does not float and must be constantly reeled in to stay on top.
