Fish Attractants

Fish Attractants, sometimes just called scents, are used to mask the human smell or any odors that may be on your hands such as sun screen or motor oil.

Some manufacturers claim that their scent actually attracts the fish to your lure.

Fish have a very refined sense of smell. I believe they can tell that something smells unnatural. Fish attractants mask these unnatural odors and replace them with a fishy smell. I don't know if they actually attract fish but I believe they help mask odors that might repel them.
I have had the opportunity to fish with B.A.S.S. pro angler, Paul Mueller a number of times. Of all the fish attractants available Paul believes in the tried and true Smelly Jelly attractant. If it's good enough for Paul Mueller, it's good enough for me.

Click on the picture of Smelly Jelly and it will take you to the Bass Pro Shops webpage where it is sold.
