Shaky Heads

Shaky Heads

A shaky head is a small jig head fished with a finesse worm attached. Most shaky head fishing is done with a spinning rod, fairly light line and light jig head. Typically fished with a 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz head.

While not required many bass fisherman like to use a floating worm which will allow the bait to stand almost straight up off the bottom. Many choose a worm made with a product called ElaZtec. ElaZtec is a plastic which is very flexible. It can stretch several times is length and is very durable. But most importantly is is very buoyant.

Shaky heads are used mostly when the bite is off and fish are highly pressured or in a negative feeding mode. Casts are made to targets near cover or docks. The rod tip is alternately shaken very lightly, stopped, dragged or just dead sticked (not moved).
